
Across Nature & Across Forest
Across Forest AS and Across Nature AS are sister companies that hold ownership of the Nicaforest Reforestation Program and handle the commercialization of carbon credits respectively.
These companies are registered as Norwegian legal entities with the aim of investing in high-impact reforestation projects. It is owned by private and institutional Norwegian investors.


Nicaforest Plantations SA & Nicaforest Wood Company
Nicaforest Plantations S.A & Nicaforest Wood Company are sister companies based in the city of Santo Tomas in the Chontales region of Nicaragua.
Nicaforest oversees all operations related to the management of plantations established in the Reforestation Program & Nicaforest Wood Company oversees the commercialization of timber products.


Meet the Nicaforest team
The operational team works out of the office in Santo Tomas and takes care of the day-to-day business of managing the Nicaforest Reforestation program.
This is a small but dedicated team with extensive know-how in silvicultural management, sustainable forestry, and environmental and social impact, which affects the program every day.
Graduated in 2020 in Environmental Sciences from the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua (UNAN-Managua). She completed a Post-internship in the Nicaforest Community Social Development Program between August 2022 and February 2023 as a Promoter of the Actions of the Environmental Education Program in the Reforestation Project in the Municipalities of Chontales and RACCS. She currently works as an Environmental Consultant for the Environmental Permit Processes and is also in charge of the Environmental Education and Training Program of The Nicaforest Reforestation Program Carbon Project initiative in rural communities, in the municipalities of Chontales and the South Caribbean Coast Autonomous Region (RACCS).

Hazell Johana Salgado

Graduated in 2021 in Forest Sciences from the National Agrarian University (UNA) in Managua, Nicaragua. Experience in monitoring forest plantations, silvicultural activities and preparation of plans for thinning and harvesting. Intern and post-intern between 2018 and 2020

FOREST TECHNICIAN, HARVEST ASSISTANT AND COLLECTION MANAGER
Graduated in 2010 in Forest Sciences from the National Agrarian University (UNA), Managua, Nicaragua. He currently works as a Monitoring and Inventory Technician, carrying out inventories of round wood, supervision of forest crews and inventory control.

Danny Hernández Ruíz

Graduated as an Agronomist from the El Recreo Technical School, El Rama. He has been working at Nicaforest since 2011. He has been Responsible for Forest Plantations, silvicultural management, and foreman of the forest crews. He has more than 10 years of experience managing teak plantation forestry activities.

Pablo Rivas
AGRONOMIST
University of Managua (UdeM). Personnel Coordinator, Inventory Control and Payroll. Management of logistics processes for forest harvesting. Overseeing compliance with the FSC principles and specifically the occupational safety regulations in the farms.

Walter B. Castellón
CONTROLLER
Degree in Accounting and Finance.Accounting and Procurement Assistant. She graduated in Accounting and Finance from the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua (UNAN) Managua, Nicaragua. She was a post-intern at Nicaforest's Administration and Accounting unit in 2021. She currently works as an Accounting and Acquisition Processes Assistant and she is in charge of payroll payment processes, purchase management, relationship with suppliers of inputs and services.

Arlen Yessenia García

He has worked in the Nicaforest group since 2015. Experience as Forest Crew Chief, management of field personnel, silvicultural management activities of forest plantations. He is currently in charge of inventories and administration of Finca Santa Elena. He executes the silvicultural plans of the forest plantations and supervises the field staff. He must also guarantee compliance with occupational safety regulations on the Farms and compliance with the FSC principles. He supports forest monitoring activities, measurements of Permanent Forest Monitoring Plots.

Fabel M. Sovalbarro
HEAD OF SANTA ELENA FOREST PLANTATION
He is in charge of silvicultural management tasks (cleaning, pruning, weeding, thinning, rounds) of the farm. Supports forest monitoring activities such as measurements of Permanent Forest Monitoring Plots. It must also ensure compliance with occupational safety regulations on the Farms and compliance with the principles of the FSC.

Felipe Mendoza

He is in charge of silvicultural management tasks (cleaning, pruning, weeding, thinning, rounds) of the farm. He is also in charge of taking care of the infrastructure of the Farm. He takes inventory controls of inputs and tools. Supports forest monitoring activities, measurements of Permanent Forest Monitoring Plots. It must also ensure compliance with occupational safety regulations on the Farms and compliance with the principles of the FSC.

Øyvind Berg is an experienced project manager from various business development projects in Central America, FYR Serbia, Russia, and Latvia, as well as projects and managerial positions in a wide range of industries and companies in Scandinavia. He has worked for many years with the wood processing industry (particle boards, furniture, and other value-added products). Furthermore, he has worked as a business development consultant in various wood processing companies and in the food processing industry, melt working industry, transportation industry, tourism, and rental industry.

Founder and President of Nicaforest Plantations S.a, also is the Landscape & Climate Specialist in Solidaridad Network Mesoamerica. His background comprises the deployment of sustainable agriculture programs, sustainable land management, landscape restoration, payment for ecosystem services, and mobilization of different sources of funding. He has worked with the United Nations Development Program, Swiss Development Cooperation, CATIE in Costa Rica, Christian Aid, and UNOPS among other international organizations. He holds a Ph.D. from Cornell University (Ithaca, NY). Hobbies: beekeeping, organic coffee production, and cycling.

Graduated in agriculture and natural resource management from EARTH University in Costa Rica and holds an MBA from Formato Educativo Business School/Cadiz University, Spain. He has managed the operational activities of the project since the start in 2010. He has experience from several agroforestry projects in Nicaragua and has developed land selection models for forestry plantations, especially based on teak and cocoa, using modern technology and applying scientific criteria. Furthermore, he has considerable experience assessing farms and implementing the principles of FSC and Gold Standard in the management of the company.
